Working at the intersection between cognitive science and machine learning, some of Ruiqi's notable accomplishments include four peer-reviewed first author publications, with one being selected for an oral presentation at the AAAI student abstract session.
Ruiqi joined the International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS) in January 2021. She initially worked under the guidance of Dr. Falk Lieder in the Rationality Enhancement Group at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen. Following Dr. Lieder’s transition to UCLA, Ruiqi continued her research in Tübingen, now working with Dr. Michael Black’s Perceiving Systems department. Her current focus remains on metacognitive reinforcement learning algorithms, which she uses to deepen our understanding of how people learn planning strategies. Ruiqi is passionate about applying this knowledge to enhance our grasp of cognitive functions and to develop more efficient computational algorithms.
Beyond her publications and conference presentations, Ruiqi has enriched her academic experience through visiting research positions at both UCLA and NYU. She holds a M.Sc. in Machine Learning and B.Sc. in Statistics and Economics both from University College London (UCL), where her Master’s thesis focused on multi-agent reinforcement learning in game theoretic setups.
Outside her academic pursuits, Ruiqi enjoys cooking and traveling. An interesting facet of her life is her entrepreneurial venture into the culinary world—she has started her own chili spice business, selling a variety of chili spices and snacks. You can follow her spicy journey on Instagram at @GZChilli.
We are proud to feature Ruiqi He as our next IMPRS-IS Scholar Spotlight, celebrating her contributions and dynamic interests.
