IMPRS-IS held its seventh interview symposium last week. The event featured applicants from over 36 different countries, all interviewing to pursue a Ph.D. with the program. In addition to interviews, applicants gave scientific talks, participated in virtual tours of our program, and observed keynote presentations from IMPRS-IS faculty.
It was another successful round of recruitment for IMPRS-IS. Though the selection process is still underway, the 2023 Interview Symposium definitely saw great success as 140 applicants from 36 different countries interviewed to join the program.
Each year in January, IMPRS-IS hosts an interview symposium to interview and recruit new Ph.D. students. The four-day event features scientific talks from the applicants, as well as two keynotes by our faculty members.
This year Dr. Daniel Häufle from the University of Tübingen and Dr. Mathias Niepert from the University of Stuttgart represented IMPRS-IS by giving keynote presentations.
New to 2023, the event also featured three scientific talks from our current scholars as part of the event's welcome. IMPRS-IS scholars Farimah Fazlollahi, Karsten Roth, and Cansu Sancaktar all presented. They are advised by Katherine J. Kuchenbecker, Zeynep Akata + Oriol Vinyals, and Georg Martius, respectively.
Applicants and faculty are currently finalizing and submitting admission preferences, and we are looking forward to having many of the applicants join as Ph.D. scholars soon.
IMPRS-IS will begin accepting applications for those interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in 2024, in July of this year. More details on how to apply can be found from our application page.
