The Soft Skills Seminar Series (S4) is offering our next workshop for IMPRS-IS Scholars — How to Create and Edit a Video Presentation. Each participant will receive individualized feedback over a video presentation he or she created.
The Soft Skills Seminar Series (S4) is a program started by IMPRS-IS to support junior scientists in their professional development and career. S4 provides workshops on topics such as conflict management for scientists, scientific writing, and research video editing.
MPI-IS Visual Content Creator, Alejandro Posada, will host a workshop focusing on the technical aspects of virtual presentations — e.g. how to record, edit, narrate, and render a video.
Date: Wednesday, October 28
Time: 13:00am - 16:30pm CET
Location: Remote via Zoom
Participants will learn how to record yourself with different tools like Zoom or QuickTime, and you will learn how to use OBS (https://obsproject.com/), a powerful tool to create videos for sharing, broadcasting, or streaming.
This particular workshop consists of two unique parts:
Part I is a tutorial package specifically created to teach you how to record a presentation and improve your video editing skills. We encourage all IMPRS-IS scholars to access this material to improve their video presentations. The tutorial video can be accessed here: https://youtu.be/yJfPLW-wRts
Part II is a half-day virtual workshop designed to compliment the tutorial package. First, use the provided materials to create a video presentation. Second, participate in a follow-up workshop together with Alejandro. Alejandro will assess your work and give you individualized feedback and editing guidance.
The deadline to register for this workshop is Wednesday, October 21. For more information on how to register, contact Sara Sorce (sara.sorce@tuebingen.mpg.de)
Sincerely,
